Description
The material
Chalcedony is a microcrystalline quartz, which is why these beads are cloudy rather than glassy — light gets into them a few millimetres and stops. The yellow is natural and varies bead to bead from near-white to deep butter. The single green bead is agate, deliberately a different material so it reads as an interruption rather than a matching set.
What it is for
This is the piece we recommend to people who have never worn a stone bracelet. It is light, it is neutral against most skin tones, and at 14mm it is visible without being a statement. In lore, yellow stones are associated with steadiness rather than luck.
Craftsman’s note
The barrel cut is flat-sided rather than fully round, which is unusual for chalcedony and takes a slower wheel. It is worth it: flat faces catch light in a line down the wrist instead of scattering it.
Wearing and care
Fits 6.5 to 7.5 inch on elastic. Chalcedony is hard enough for daily wear and does not need protecting from water. If it dulls, warm water and a drop of plain soap will bring it back.
